How To Prepare Your Quilt Top for the Long-arm Quilting

  1. DO NOT baste or pin your quilt together
  2. CLEARLY mark the top of quilt & backing with a safety pin
  3. PLEASE press your quilt top and backing well
  4. Stay stitch all pieced borders. Stay stitching around the border of the quilt (1/8”) will ensure that the seams stay together and will not pull apart when mounted

  6. Iron and square up your backing, making sure to remove the selvedges
  7. Measure the backing to ensure that it is at least 8” larger than the top on ALL sides
  8. Please be sure to include any special instructions

How to Care for and Launder your quilt

Care of Quilts

Quilts are like cats.  They love to stretch across beds in a room with not too much sunlight.  They like people to admire them, but not too much.  They don’t like to be kept folded up in a closet or stored in a plastic bag where they could be mistaken for garbage and thrown out(Heaven Forbid!).  They don’t like cold musty cellars, hot stuffy attics, locked in an old wooden trunk or left in a car.  They like to be clean but hate a bath.  Worse of all, they don’t like dogs to lie on them!  But they do love to keep their owners warm and bring great happiness and joy.

Washing of Quilts

Warm/cool gentle machine wash or dry-clean.  Dry flat in shade in spring, summer or autumn if possible.  If you must use a dryer, we recommend using a no-heat air-dry or the lowest setting possible.   Regular turning and airing are recommended.  Any spills or stains should be removed as soon as possible, paying careful attention to the direction of the design, and care instructions for cotton fabrics
